Yes, Kentuckians with a qualifying medical condition can get a medical marijuana card! Before submitting the state application, patients must first meet in-person with an authorized doctor or nurse practitioner and receive a certification to use cannabis medicinally. Is Cannabis legal in Kentucky?
Medicinal Cannabis is legal to use and possess in Kentucky as long as you follow the rules set forth in Senate Bill 47. You must have a Kentucky Medical Marijuana card and be approved by a Doctor or Practitioner.
How much does it cost?
$175.00 for the initial visit and medical certification for KY cannabis card. Annual renewal is $50.
Will employers know I have a Kentucky medical marijuana certification?
No, your medical marijuana status will not be made public because it is considered part of your Protected Health Information (PHI). Just like any other healthcare visit or medical treatment you receive, the information you share with our medical team is considered private and confidential. Your Kentucky medical marijuana status will not show up on any kind of background check.
What will happen during my evaluation?
During your medical cannabis evaluation, a state-licensed Nurse Practitioner will evaluate you and certify you for Cannabis use. The Practitioner will discuss your health history with you, as well as counsel you on the benefits and risks of THC and other cannabinoids. Please be prepared to answer questions about your prescription medications and surgical history.
